About Me

My name is Anoushka. I’m an investigative journalist from India, and I’ve been studying and working as a reporter in Boston, USA, since 2019.

Starting July 2022, I’ve been continuing my journalism career in my home country, working on a project with DataLEADS and Google News Initiative to train newsrooms on the basics of Data Journalism. This training is provided free-of-cost to all journalists, with the aim to combat misinformation and improve quality of reporting.

I like to work on stories that require interaction with the community. This helps me put my roots down meaningfully, so I am better equipped to dive deep into the issues.

Over the last three years, I’ve written stories on a host of topics that affect communities across the world: housing, substance abuse, incarceration, homelessness, juvenile delinquency, labor conditions, after-school programs and child care, youth activism and more.

My bachelor’s degree in Economics lends an analytical approach to my work. I also have experience working with Data, including knowledge of SQL, Excel and OpenRefine. Prior to journalism, I worked in digital marketing, which taught me to market my own stories.
